WHAT good news that the Bedale, Aiskew and Leeming Bar bypass will be completed ahead of schedule (D&S Times, Feb 26), but its title says it all. Where is Morton-on-Swale?
Was it not envisaged that by creating a bypass it would encourage even more traffic to drive through this village?
At a time when warnings are going out about traffic pollution affecting the health of our young people, and with two schools in a village which has very narrow footpaths to the only pedestrian crossing, would it not have been the right thing to do to divert all the heavy traffic?
Shame on the powers that be. It appears that it is more important to keep traffic flowing through a bottleneck than worrying about the health and safety of people.
