I READ your report on the Hambleton District Council planning committee meeting concerning the North Northallerton Development and was interested to learn that the council felt there weren’t many letters of objection to the plans (D&S Times, Nov 20).

But the council totally disregarded the strength of feeling shown at the public meeting that was held more than four years ago when the plan was first mooted, and a petition was sent to the council then.

I noted the comments made after the recent meeting by Councillors David Hall and Tony Blades who, I believe, represent Northallerton on the county council as well as the district.

They both said what a good thing this development was for the area.

Strange – I thought they were there to represent the electorate of the ward; obviously not. They must be there to represent themselves.

Those who voted for them yet again have only themselves to blame. Perhaps it is time for a change.
