I AM sure that many of Rishi Sunak’s constituents in Richmond will have been delighted to read in his column last week (D&S Times, Sept 18) that he is in favour of openness and transparency in the funding of political activity, hence his voting for the Trade Union Bill.
Given Mr Sunak’s enthusiasm for transparency, could he please let us know what the Conservative Party is doing to ensure clarity about the returns expected by the donors to his party, in terms of, say, Cabinet posts or elevation to the Lords, whether the returns per donation are different for non-domiciled donors, and whether any more party funders who did not get the Cabinet post they expected have any other stories/photographs that are likely to compromise the dignity of the office of Prime Minister?
