IN your item headlined “Slug pellet warning” (DST, Aug 28), the fourth paragraph begins: “Although the chemical [metaldehyde} is harmless and poses little health risk...”
Taken in isolation, this statement could be very misleading because the slug pellets themselves are extremely toxic to dogs and to wildlife.
Because they are sweet tasting, they are very attractive to animals, potentially lethal and there is no antidote.
Gardeners, farmers and dog owners need to be very careful.
