THIS week Parliament has again been debating the rights and wrongs of fox hunting. Currently there are much more important issues for the Government to consider. The majority of people will not be particularly concerned, but a small minority feel passionately, for or against, fox hunting.
I have never taken part in fox hunting, but fox numbers need to be controlled. If I was a fox, I would prefer to take my chance against a pack of hounds, than be shot or trapped. Being a fit and wise fox, I would like to think that I would get away.
People's perception of cruelty differs, but to me, it is very cruel to keep a much loved pet in a tiny cage for its whole life. Letting one's pet dog or children get very fat is also very cruel – should Parliament debate these topics?
Of greater significance may be the implications for the Union because of the way the SNP behaved in regard to a matter that affects only England and Wales.
