MAY I use your pages to thank everyone responsible for the success of the 2015 Swaledale Festival?
Our sponsors – large and small firms and generous individuals. The churches, village halls and other venues which welcomed us. The B&Bs, cafes, guest houses and inns which housed and fed so many visitors. Our hundred-plus volunteers. Our staff, led by the Festival’s Artistic Director Malcolm Creese. Our artists, who ask to return and who in addition to concerts performed in care and retirement homes for residents unable to attend Festival events. The schools which partner us in arts projects. Your paper, for its support and reviews, and the national papers, which rate Swaledale among the best music festivals in the country.
And of course our audiences, local and incoming, without whom there would be no Festival.
Our festival is a non-profit organisation, but we do see it as part of our remit to bring trade to local businesses, as well as encouraging excellence in local arts.
Our team is already planning the 2016 Swaledale Festival, from May 28 to June 11.
