AS a cyclist of 65 years, and car driver for 50 years, I believe I have the experience to comment about the lycra-clad, mainly oldies, I see on the roads in North Yorkshire nowadays.

They cycle, two, and sadly in too many cases, three a breast. They are a danger both to themselves, and drivers.

Cycle lanes? Not for them. They prefer to damage relationships with drivers, and too many of them wear earphones, so they cannot even hear traffic approaching from the rear.

Nowhere in the UK have I seen, in my travels, such idiotic, selfish, cycling.

I am delighted to see more people on bicycles, to improve health and fitness, but they need a serious brain transplant if they continue in this manner.
