IS this the last word on the sheep saga?
The issue of the sheep sent into Well churchyard by the Parochial Church Council to the clear long grass has caused upset and division within the village of Well, near Bedale, and beyond.
Those families with very recent burials were understandably concerned and hurt to think of the damage the sheep would cause. But the PCC had set the date for the sheep to be sent in – and in they went, which resulted in much ill feeling.
Then, without warning, overnight one of the very large, very old trees in the churchyard split in two. A huge part of the tree landed on the churchyard, the scene of the dispute. It landed on top of old graves – just missing the new graves.
