Sir, – The General Election was defined by the politics of fear.

The Conservatives and their pals in the Tory media, stoked the fires of English and Scottish nationalism.

Subsequently, 56 out of 59 seats in Scotland were won by the SNP; a result which could take us further down the road to be break up of the union.

The return of the Tories as a single party of government, could mean the end for the NHS, other local services and the welfare state, as we know it.

Boundary changes at the next election in 2020, could make it harder for Labour and the shattered Lib Dems to recover.

Over the next five years, people will find out how really nasty the Tory party can be.

Britain has now become a more deeply divided country.
