Sir, – What has annoyed people most about the Conservative leaflet comparing Hambleton District Council (HDC) with Richmondshire District Council (RDC) is that it has not told the whole truth.
Has anyone else noticed that Richmondshire District Council has produced two potential parliamentary candidates? Former RDC Councillor Wendy Morton is an approved Conservative candidate elsewhere. Councillor John Blackie is standing in his own right on the strength of his track record and local experience in Richmond. Hambleton District Council has produced none.
As Councillor Mick Griffiths fairly points out, RDC chose not to sell the family silver housing stock and has kept the rates bill under control through prudent management.
If Hambleton District Council is so wonderful why are there no public toilets in Northallerton?
