Sir, – Many years ago, it was the Whigs that grabbed the land from peasants. Come the industrial revolution it was the greedy Tories that held on to the wealth of the nation.

Today most MPs follow this financial creed. Recently we had one MP who admitted he had no real job, was self-employed and was available for a well paid occupation for just £8k per day - remember we only pay him around £70k plus up to £100k for expenses.

Now our MP in his 26 year career has dabbled in judo, beer drinking, walking, writing books, very well paid lectures, wearing silly hats, TV shows, investing in commercial firms and much more outside his political activities. All this on top of his parliamentary salary.

At the end of this May election he will take up residence in his £4 million house in Wales plus an excellent pension.

Yes he performed well in his surgery - just like many other MPs. It is possible that he may be honoured with a Lordship for political intrigue. However, there is no real evidence of his expected interest in many unfortunate people living on zero or low wages.

Our MP leaves Parliament as a millionaire - and up pops another millionaire. We, who are registered have a duty to vote. A real change is required. Don't be thumped by the glossy paper propaganda.
