Sir, – Whilst in Scarborough on a short hotel break, I had a medical problem which required an ambulance call-out at 7.30am. A fast response team arrived within four mins and an ambulance arrived within six mins. Having carried out all their tests it was decided to take me to Scarborough accident and emergency unit. I was taken by two young ambulance personnel who were very caring and professional at all times.

On arrival at A&E, I was seen at once and examined by two doctors and a consultant before being sent for an X-ray. It was decided to keep me in hospital. I was transferred to Ash Ward where I spent 24 hours in their care. This letter is to thank everybody for the cheerful and truly professional treatment I received at all levels. Thank heavens for our truly great National Health Service and it’s staff.
