Sir, – The issue of parking in Northallerton High Street is being raised again (D&S, Jan 16). A period of 30 minutes free parking is not enough.
Thirsk has got it right. There is 60 minutes of free parking and one can do a lot of shopping in 60 minutes. This discourages people from monopolising parking spaces for long periods. Except on market days, I can always find somewhere to park in Thirsk Market Place, which encourages me to use local shops in the Market Place.
