Sir, – I write regarding the article regarding two pensioners fighting in Leyburn (D&S Times, Dec 12).
It beggars belief that two people are prepared to fight over a parking space, more so when Leyburn has 191 free spaces and 130 pay and display spaces, in addition to spaces at Thornborough Hall.
The incident also resulted in the attendance of police and paramedics, the cost of which is deplorable when there are genuine emergencies to be dealt with.
Not only should the two be ashamed, they should have been charged for affray. I bet if these were two young men they would have been charged or at least given an £80 penalty ticket for the offence.
