Sir, – I have received my ceramic poppy, culled from the display in the moat at the Tower of London, intact, and washed off most of its mud.
I have a dilemma. I would like my poppy, representing as it does the memory of one of the Allied 888,246 victims of the Great War, to last a little longer than it would if, as is intended, displayed on its steel stem in my garden; where it is likely to be damaged or at the very best dirtied by some passing sparrow.
I would like to display it in a more secure glazed case, but sourcing one of the right design is proving problematic.
Given the number of poppies that have been sold and the possibility that I will not be the only one to cherish my memorial, there is a significant marketing, if not fundraising opportunity going begging.
Is there anyone reading this who thinks they might be equipped for the challenge?
