Sir, – Doctor's surgeries open at weekends – great idea, but how would one get there on a Sunday without any bus services?

I recently had my second hip replacement in the Friarage Hospital.

I was slightly surprised to be called in on a Saturday for the operation; I am delighted (and grateful) to say that it all went swimmingly.

I was a little worried lest the post-operative care would be left the next day to a couple of ward assistants and a harrassed junior doctor, but the attendant surgeon and anaesthetist both came in to see me on the Sunday in a fully-staffed Gara Ward.

Just signed off, and back to the gym today!
