Sir, - I would like to take issue with Peter Bevan, who, in Arts News (D&S, Sept 19) stated that Middlesbrough Town Hall concert series were the only opportunity to hear symphonic music in the region outside of The Sage and summer music festivals.

The orchestra I direct, the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, has been providing at least three high quality symphonic music concerts a year for the last 32 years.

Not only that, the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra has been doing the same for even longer. The next Philharmonic concert is on October 11 in Stockton Parish Church, and the next Cleveland Chamber Orchestra concert is in Stokesley Methodist Church on Sunday, October 19. Perhaps the D&S would like Peter Bevan to come along and do a report for the paper, he’d be most welcome. TIM JACKSON
