Sir, – I am disappointed to read that "all of the parish councils" are objecting to the Windy Bank wind farm proposals near Woodland.

Surely our parish councils are aware that there are a number of their residents who are supporting the wind farm for various reasons? If they are aware of this, are they not supposed to represent the whole community and not just a few nimbi's?

The benefits the wind farm will bring are more than welcome in our community. The jobs that it will bring as well as the work it will provide to our local businesses and workmen are much needed. We are supposed to be coming out of the recession and large projects like this are helping rural economies like ours to speed this process up.

There is also the commitment the people at Banks Renewables has given to contribute £70,000 per year (yes that right each and every year) to our local area.

My understanding is that this money can be used to help people of all ages with training and employment opportunities as well as contributing to much needed sports and community facilities in our area. Hopefully Evenwood Cricket Club will be one of those will be applying for the money if it becomes available.

I urge Durham County Council to support the wind farm when it is time for the decision to be made for the jobs and the community benefits fund.
