Sir, – Here I am, keen marathon runner, member of Bedale Running Club and member Hambleton Leisure Centre, Northallerton. My usual long run yesterday morning included said leisure centre cross country course, football fields etc.

The cycle-cross riders – ruining all sorts of terrain – looked odd as I passed on the course. Most seemed to be on road bikes – still who am I to complain, I just have to run on a path with overhanging trees, brambles, nettles, and potholes which will never be repaired – next of course to a road which of course has been fully repaired as a result of a certain road race for bikes? Who should I sue if I fall/get injured?

As I run past the signage at Northallerton College, sport aided wonder apparently – why is the field pad-locked/barbed wire? At least the school field at Bedale appears accessible on Wednesday night.

So if someone could put a footpath from Ainderby Rd to Ainderby Steeple, and connect the Swale Bridge to Leeming Bar, then I know where to go in relative safety.

FRANK WEBSTER

Romanby.
