Sir, - I refer to the letter from Cllr Stuart Parsons (D&S Timnes, September 5) in response to a letter from Mrs Kemp the week earlier - where upon Cllr Parsons calls upon us all to celebrate our wonderful town. We could not agree more, and have in fact organised an event to do just that. Shop Local Charity Fashion Show is happening in Richmond on October 25 in the Town Hall and is a celebration and coming together of the many wonderful local independent businesses we have in Richmond and the surrounding area.

We are showcasing not only the many collections of local clothes retailers in and around the town (seven collections to be precise), ranging from kids' wear, young people's fashion, countrywear, vintage wear, fair trade, and knitting garments - but also on show will be a local jewellery designer, a local photographer, local make-up artists, local hair stylists, and local models all volunteered from various different businesses all wanting to support the show and indeed celebrate this wonderful town. Furthermore, we are raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion.

Perhaps Mrs Kemp, and Cllr Parsons would like to come along - as long as they promise not to argue. Tickets are £6 and available from the Pot of Gold Wool Shop Indoor Market, and Cinnamoon in Finkle Street.
