Sir, – Now I am certainly not a devoted fan of the Highways Department at North Yorkshire County Council but I have to admit that the work it has done on the road outside our house, the A684 Main Street, West Witton, has dramatically improved the quality of life in this village.
The new road surface not only reduces tyre noise but appears to absorb other vehicle noise such as motor cycle exhaust but especially the vibrations from HGVs at low revs that used to rattle the windows.
Thanks NYCC Highways for making our village noticeably quieter.
