Sir, – Your August 1 front page article reported on planning applications submitted for development in the Snipe Lane area of Hurworth Parish.
Your article stated that residents had not objected to development proposals on the west side of Snipe Lane. This is incorrect, majority decisions on planning applications taken by Hurworth Parish Council have regularly submitted objections to applications in Snipe Lane. In the event our objections have been overruled by Darlington Borough Council planning committee.
The parish council is concerned about the prevalence of planning applications in the parish for traveller/gypsy/log cabin/chalet developments and will object where the majority of the council considers the application should be legitimately refused.
Cllr TONY WINNETT
Hurworth Parish Council chairman
