Sir, – Following your correspondent’s excellent review of the Swaledale Festival’s Percussion Project final concert, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who made the project possible: the teachers, helpers, school administrators and parents, the artists, music teacher Rosi Keatinge, the four members of Forro Porro, the staff and volunteers at Gayle Mill in Wensleydale, and my colleagues at Swaledale Festival.
We were especially fortunate to be able to deliver the entire project to the children free of charge, and for this we are very grateful for the financial support given by North Yorkshire Music Action Zone, Youth Music, the Co-op Community Fund, the Charles and Elsie Sykes Trust, and the Ministry of Defence Community Covenant Scheme.
Most importantly, I would like to thank and congratulate the 100 children who took part.
They were a joy to work with and they all excelled themselves.
MALCOLM CREESE Artistic director, Swaledale Festival
