Society wins customer award

Darlington Building Society has won a new national award for Treating Customers Fairly.

It is the eighth title it has won in The Mortgage Finance Gazette Awards in London.

The awards are open to all mortgage lenders throughout the country and the society has now won more than any other lender.

It has previously won the award for Community Services four times and Support for the Arts three times.

The Financial Services Authority insists that treating customers fairly is embedded within financial service organisations. It carries out audits to ensure this is the case.

Sheena Hunter, Darlington Building Society district manager for Northallerton and North Yorkshire, said: “Treating customers fairly is a vital part of our role and one we care passionately about.”
