STUDENTS and staff at TTE Technical Training Group started their Christmas shopping early this year and filled more than 20 shoes boxes with gifts for children in third-world countries, ready to open on Christmas Day.
Organised by TTE staff, Sara Marshall and Rory McIntosh, the project saw each learner group put together boxes suitable for young people aged two to14, which included stuffed animals, footballs, toy cars and musical instruments.
The boxes have now been dropped off at a collection point in Middlesbrough and will be shipped to children that would not have otherwise received a gift.
The Middlesbrough-based TTE’s drive is in support of the Samaritan’s Purse and its Operation Christmas Child, which will send thousands of shoe boxes filled with gifts to deprived children all over the world.
Sara Marshall, TTE operations director, said: "Our learners were very enthusiastic about the project and are looking forward to finding out where in the world their boxes end up. Christmas is a special time, especially for children, and we’re delighted that our boxes of presents will make a young person’s Christmas."
