A FAMILY-OWNED kitchen design company has won a top national award for the third time in four years.

PWS of Newton Aycliffe was awarded House Beautiful Magazine's 2016 Gold award for best value kitchen for its Second Nature Fitzroy.

Graeme Smith, PWS' senior designer, and Jill Lundberg, press officer, collected the award in front of more than 200 designers and interior celebrities at the British Film Institute.

The judging panel included Sophie Conran, John Rocha, Tommy Walsh, Chris Haslam, Pippa Jameson, Oliver Heath and Nick Knowles.

Julia Goodwin, House Beautiful magazine’s editor, Julia Goodwin, said they had received a record number of entries with the calibre of products being higher than ever.

Mr Smith said: "The standard of entries across all categories was extremely high, with household names such as John Lewis, Roca, Harlequin, AEG, Liberty, Little Green Paint Co and Stove also collecting Gold Awards."

The latest award coincides with the opening of the company’s London showroom and the upgrading of its design centre in Newton Aycliffe.

Established in 1909, PWS is a fourth-generation, family business and is a leading supplier of kitchen components and manufacturer of worksurfaces.
