THE Barker and Stonehouse store in Darlington has undergone a £300,000 make over.

The store at Feethams sports new signs and timber fascias on the exterior with the interior now including feature walls made from regionally-sourced reclaimed bricks, a new entrance and two staircases made from exposed steel and timber, situated at the front and back of the store which take shoppers to the upper floor.

New lighting, floors and layouts also feature, including internal walls built to segregate different areas.

The design was created by Barker and Stonehouse merchandising director Claire Hornby and Richmond-based construction company McLuckie Projects, who also worked on the Teesside, Knaresborough and Battersea stores.

James Barker, managing director, said: "Investing in our stores is of great importance to us, and we wanted to give customers of our Darlington store a fantastic shopping experience.

"We’ve had very positive feedback from the first customers to visit the new-look store and look forward to welcoming many more."

The store's relaunch coincides with a new entertainment complex at Feethams, which includes a cinema, hotel and several restaurants.
