A NORTHUMBERLAND company has teamed up with one of the world's leading chain component manufacturers to develop a range of products capable of withstanding temperatures down to minus 40C.

William Hackett Chains of Alnwick, working with McKinnon Chain, has come up with the market leading HA range of master links and quad assemblies. The need for improved material toughness at sub zero temperatures has become an increasing requirement in the off shore oil and gas industries due to the exploration and development in some of the planet’s most remote locations and extreme conditions.

Tim Burgess, managing director at William Hackett Chains, said: "Material toughness at low temperatures has become recognised as an essential characteristic in lifting equipment used in the energy sector. McKinnon Chain have responded to our market feedback and developed an already proven tough product into an even better one."

The collaboration is the latest in a series of developments and innovations it is working on for release in 2015.
