HUGH Fell is to step down as managing partner of George F White.

Mr Fell, 54, joined the land and property specialists in 1985 and became managing partner 10 years later. He will retire on April 30th but will continue to work alongside the business as a consultant.

In a 30 year career, he has become a well-known figure in the rural and business scene, and has been fundamental in the growth of George F White. A nationally recognised firm, it now has a team of 120 and operates from seven different offices from Duns, in the Scottish Borders, to Shiptonthorpe, just outside York.

Partner Robyn Peat has been appointed managing partner.

Mr Fell said: "I am certain George F White will continue to grow and thrive under Robyn’s leadership. One of the businesses biggest successes has been bringing together enthusiastic, brilliant people who can really make a difference to our clients. I believe in the potential of our younger team who are vital to keeping the business vibrant and viable into the future."

Mr Peat said: “Hugh has worked tirelessly with energy and enthusiasm to build the George F White business to what it is today. He has laid the foundations to ensure the continued growth and longevity of the business. We have a team of excellent people and the future of the business is exciting."
