GREEN-TECH, the North Yorkshire supplier of landscaping materials and garden supplies based in Nun Monkton, near York, has appointed Garbutt & Elliott as its main business advisors and accountants.

Owners Richard and Rachel Kay began trading as Green-tech from a single van and shed - with limited funds - more than 20 years ago. Today based at Nun Monkton near York,it has an £8.6m turnover, 42 staff, 35,000 sq ft of office and warehousing space, and more than 6,000 produced.

They decided to seek specialist financial and professional advice to help access funds to keep expanding.

Mrs Kay said: “We’ve grown steadily, even maintaining our foothold in the market when the construction industry has struggled. We always keep one eye on the future and we now have plans to move to a larger site near the A1.

“Subject to the relevant planning permission, the new site will include purpose-built offices to house the expanding Green-tech team; a trade counter and a distribution area for Green-tech’s own brand topsoil – Green-tree.

“We selected Garbutt & Elliott because we felt they were the perfect fit for Green-tech. It’s a Yorkshire-based firm with a wealth of experience working with growing, family run businesses. "

Jeremy Oliver, partner with Garbutt & Elliott which has offices in York and Leeds, said: “Green-tech is a tremendous success story and has ambitious plans for future growth. The company now needs strong financial management and specialist taxation advice to help achieve its plans.

“We have already been able to identify substantial annual taxation savings and will be looking at further tax reliefs available to the company in the areas of research and development and innovation."
