A COUNTY Durham spa has been named one of the UK’s top five most luxurious.
The Rockliffe Hall Spa in Hurworth, near Darlington, is the only one from the North of England to appear in the new “5 Bubble Luxury” category in The Good Spa Guide.
A “Spa Spy” from the guide praised its combination of luxury, good facilities, great treatments, high standards of cleanliness and high service levels. It also recently sent Joanne Harris, celebrated author of Chocolat, to the spa as a celebrity spy. She praised its attention to detail and said the treatments left her “wholly, marvellously relaxed”.
Liz Holmes (pictured below), Rockliffe Hall spa director, said: “Our team at Rockliffe works so hard to ensure the most impeccable yet relaxed service and to be recognised in this way makes us proud.”
Last year, the Sunday Times put the 50,000sq ft spa in the Top 20 in Europe, while TripAdvisor users voted it ninth in the world and second in the UK.
