TWO County Durham businesses have won accolades for excellence.

Cross Lanes Organic Farm Shop, which stands beside the A66 near Barnard Castle, has been listed as one of the UK’s Top Ten Destination Farm Shops by the BBC Good Food magazine.

Peter Coverdale, owner said: “We didn’t know we had achieved this until new customers were coming in and telling us, it’s quite an achievement really.”

The farm shop and Walworth Castle Birds of Prey Centre, which opened in the grounds of Walworth Castle, near Darlington, this summer have also both received Certificate of Excellence Awards from the online review website TripAdvisor for consistently receiving a rating of at least four out of five stars from customers.

Tori Goodall, who is the bird centre’s owner, said the top award “is a true source of pride for the entire team” and thanked all of those who had completed a good review on the TripAdvisor site.
