A PROMISING engineer has been presented with an award by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East.

Jonathan Rex, a graduate from Durham University, has received the ICE Student Prize 2014 for his impressive academic performance and talent in engineering design.

Each year, ICE North East presents the award to one Durham University student for their achievements in the penultimate and final years of the four year course.

Mr Rex, who is from Dronfield, near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, secured a first class degree in MEng Civil Engineering, and is joining BP as an intervention engineer .

Penny Marshall, ICE regional director for the North East, said: “Jonathan has performed extremely well throughout his degree and his first class results are a reflection of his hard work and talent.

“He has a bright future ahead of him.”
