A GOURMET food trail company and ‘slow travel’ holiday specialist have created a gastronomic break to showcase the best of Yorkshire’s food and scenery.

Yorkshire Food Finder and tour operator Inntravel acted after pictures of the county’s spectacular scenery and beautiful towns and villages were televised to 190 countries during coverage of the start of the Tour de France.

The two Yorkshire companies have created a four-night gastronomic break which includes behind-thescenes private tours of some of the county’s finest artisan producers, gourmet feasts, stays at quality hotels and independent walks.

Chefs involved include Andrew Pern of the Star Inn, Peter Neville from the Pheasant Hotel, both Harome, near Helmsley, and Craig Atchinson who heads the kitchen at the James Martin Restaurant at The Talbot Hotel, Malton.

Visits include to Botton Village Creamery on the North York Moors to see traditional cheese-making methods; family- run Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil which produces oils, salad dressings and mayonnaise on a farm in the Yorkshire Wolds; and award-winning Ryedale Vineyards in Ryedale, the most northerly commercial vineyard in Britain.

Sue Nelson, founder of Yorkshire Food Finder, said: “We’re proud of all that we have here, so we’re delighted to be working with Inntravel to showcase the splendour of Yorkshire, its wonderful larder and the talent of food producers and chefs who make this Inntravel holiday a must for the food lover.”
