BLACKER Hall Farm Shop in Wakefield has introduced a new barbecue product with a Brazilian flavour for the World Cup.

The Calder Grove business has launched Churrasco Chicken, featuring typical South American flavours.

Churrasco is a Portuguese and Spanish term that refers to beef or grilled meat, including chicken, specifically cut thinly for cooking quickly over barbecue coals. In Brazil, the barbecue is known as a ‘churrasqueira’.

Blacker Hall Farm Shop butchery manager Ian Richardson said: “We wanted to mark the World Cup with a new product that encompasses the Brazilian approach to food.”

Director Cheryl Garthwaite added: “The Blacker Hall team have had some real fun developing this and we all have our fingers crossed that England can now get back on the right foot.”

The Churrasco Chicken will be a mainstay of the Blacker Hall barbecue range throughout the summer months.

The business has won multiple local, regional and national awards and is currently the UK’s Best Farm Shop after being crowned 2014 Farm Retailer of the Year in annual awards run by FARMA, the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association.
