A LONG-ESTABLISHED door and window manufacturer expects turnover to reach £6 million this year after upgrading its production facility.

H Jarvis Ltd is based on the Longbeck Trading Estate at Marske by the Sea. It was founded in 1878 and has more than 70 staff at Marske and a second site in Glasgow.

The investment follows funding from Barclays and includes a specially adapted machine which will significantly increase their production of PVC windows.

David Glendinning, managing director, said: “We’ve been craftsmanbuilding and installing quality PVC windows since the mid 1990’s and now produce more than 2,000 units a week.

“The new machine will enhance our rapid turnaround of orders and allow us to increase production and grow the business. The funding has allowed us to acquire the machinery at a competitive price and provides us with flexibility over the coming years.”

Mike Wicks, senior business banking manager at Barclays arranged the funding and said: “H Jarvis Limited is a long standing customer that has banked with us for more than 50 years and we’re delighted to be able to provide funding for their growth.

“It’s great to see local businesses taking advantage of low interest rates and investing for the future. This will undoubtedly lead to an increase in employment locally which is great news.”

Barclays Business Banking has more than 809,000 customers. In 2013 it helped 120,000 start-ups – up from 112,000 in 2012 – and the highest annual amount since its records began in the year
