A NORTH Yorkshire law firm has acquired an established practice in Ripon.

Coles Solicitors, which launched in 2007, has acquired Tunnard’s two offices at Duck Hill and Kirkgate.

The six staff will join Coles who will be joined by several Coles employees to bolster the range of services on offer.

Peter Gibson, managing director, said: “Ripon is a key location for us in terms of bridging the distance between our offices in the east of North Yorkshire with Settle in the west.” It also has offices in York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Yarm and Guisborough.

Chris Tunnard originally worked at the Ripon branch of Harrogatebased Kirby’s Solicitors before taking it over to create Tunnard & Co in 1986.

He said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of joining Coles which has a growing reputation across North Yorkshire and the North-East. I am confident that our existing customers will be well served by the existing and new staff.”

Coles’ range of services includes conveyancing, wills and probate, accident claims and family work.

Its Ripon office can also offer advice on ecclesiastical law as Chris Tunnard and colleague Nicola Harding are joint registrars for the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds.
