Firm wins deal to distribute wind turbines across the country Report looks

A NORTH Yorkshire renewable energy company has won a multi-million pound dealto distribute a Dutch company’s wind turbines.

ICE Renewables, of Crabtree Hall Business Centre, beside the A1M between Leeming Bar and Catterick Village, will distribute Lagerwey’s megawatt turbines in the UK.

One of the country’s main providers of medium-sized wind turbines, ICE employs 20 people and will oversee the planning, installation, maintenance and operation of the turbines.

Julian Martin, ICE chief executive, saidthedeal wouldallow the company to expand its services.

He said: “This is excellent news and ensures we are able to offer our clients leading edge technology solutions across a range of turbines.

“These direct drive turbines are leaders in their class, deliver excellent levels of energy, and complement our existing portfolio of kilowatt class turbines enabling us to offer even more to customers.”

Lagerwey was founded in 1979 and has turbines which feature a hollowmainshaftfor easier servicing and include a cooled generator to withstanding severe weather.

Aart vandePol,Lagerweydirector and shareholder, said the company were impressed with ICE’s commitment to renewable power.

He said:” We see ICE as the ideal commercial broker for the British market and believe the technology we provide and the cost-effective solution we offer will appeal where high quality and excellent life cycle price-performance is required.”
